Baby It's Cold Outside

Coat: Guess, Scarf: Can not recall where it's from,
Jeggings: Abercrombie & Fitch, Pumps: Steve Madden,
Sunglasses: Forever 21, Clutch: TJ Maxx
Hair is in a sock bun - check out my tutorial here!

The weather as of late has been insane here in good old northeast Ohio.
One minute it is sunny and thirty seconds later it is raining... then it turns into freezing rain, and after five minutes there is a blizzard putting three inches of snow on the ground - within fifteen minutes.
I wish this was a joke, but despite some mild exaggeration, this is pretty true.
It's been difficult to get some outfit pictures outdoors - but I was lucky enough to be able to snap these after we got some pretty snow!
So I bundled up, with an attempt to do it in style.

Glitz & Glam

Here I have a new product that I decided to try after my friend Lisa swore by it. This lipgloss from Victoria's Secret makes your lips tingle and plump! It's nothing extreme, but I noticed my lips definitely looked a little fuller and there was a bigger difference on Lisa's lips. I took a before and after picture of my lips and in the after picture I had it on for about 10-15 minutes. Although, I feel that there is definitely a more noticeable difference after about 30 minutes. So if you're looking for a lip plumper, this is a good one! Just be prepared - your lips tingle quite a bit and after wearing it for about 30 minutes they feel like they are swollen - but I did not find this in any way to be uncomfortable. They have one with a slight pink tint (the one I got), one that is a clear gloss, and a clear super shine gloss - all with plumping capabilities!

Smokey Cat Eye Tutorial

I used the lightest grey, darkest grey, and black colors from the Maybelline Expert Wear color palate in "Charcoal Smokes" and Cover Girl Lashblast Fusion

Put the lightest grey shade all over your lid
Take the dark grey and line the crease of your eyelid,
pulling it out past the end of your eye to create a smokey cat look

Start at the outer end, past the end of your eye and
line your eye with the black shadow
Put on several coats (I did two) of mascara
Put a small amount of the black shadow in the bottom, outer corner of your eye

DIY projects are the most fun.
You create something with your own hands that you can personalize; and you can use it with the knowledge that you created this wonderful thing. Another great plus to DIY projects is you can save mega bucks doing it yourself. I love blouses - but buying a million blouses to wear under sweaters is not exactly reasonable. So here is a cool DIY project that I came across and thought I would share. How to make your own personalized collars to wear with any shirt or sweater. Very cute :)
Does anyone have any cool DIY projects to share?
And be on the look out! A smokey, cat eye tutorial and VS product review are coming to the blog tomorrow!

I have become an online shopping addict.
It opens up a whole new world of things you just can't find going to the mall.
Now, I think anyone who shops online will understand the feeling I am having right now.
It's like Christmas - I just can't wait to open my packages when they finally arrive in the mail.
I am so excited; I wait for the mail with such anticipation every day.
In 5-7 business days, I am going to be a very happy girl.
Check out what is on it's way!! :)

Sock Bun Tutorial

So lately my mornings have consisted of a whole lot of this...

therefore - a lot of this too... yum

In the morning when I have to get out of bed after snoozing the alarm a good five or six times, I am always scheming of ways I could cut some time getting ready so I can stay in bed longer. A few days ago, I found my new best friend - the sock bun. My hair is pretty short, it is about two inches below my shoulders, so the messy bun looks like a little baby bun - very poorly executed. The sock bun however, gives the illusion that I have a copious amount of thick, luscious hair and it is so neatly formed at the top of my head, it had to take hours. Wrong. It takes not even 3 minutes.

Here is how I do my sock bun:

Start off with a hair tie, and an old (clean) sock; cut off the toes
Roll the sock up so it starts forming a donut
You now have your sock donut - the most crucial part to your sock bun
Put your hair in a high pony tail - or wherever you would like your sock bun
Put your donut around your pony tail
Start wrapping your ends around the sock bun - just once to get them in place
And start rolling the sock bun down - so the hair wraps around it every time you roll it
Hello sock bun :)

I am so in love with the high-low hem dress trend. Especially with sheers. I want this dress so badly - its gorgeous. It is definitely on the higher end of my price range... way high; but if I don't find one like it I think I am going to have to splurge. It is also cobalt blue, one of my favorite colors to wear. With my fair skin tone, blue eyes and dark hair, I love the way this color makes my features pop. It's obvious; I have a dress crush.

{I would wear it with this necklace}

{these shoes}

{and my hair in a sock bun, my new favorite}

For now...
I am waiting on this dress to arrive in the mail from Urban Outfitters! I can not wait! Its like the fishtail idea - just more compatible with the lovely, bone-chilling winter weather going on at the moment
(its freezing... can it be spring now?)

Couples Dinner

Today has been quite eventful! Javier, the kidden and I made the journey to my parents house for our first paid cooking gig. My parents have been meeting with their "couples group" for about 26 years now; they meet once a month for dinner and to discuss either a book they all read, or they watch a movie with a positive message and discuss it together. This time my parents hosted and Javier and I cooked the dinner for everyone! We made enfrijoladas (I have the recipe for those here), cheesy mexican potatoes, salsa and mexican rice! It was a delicious meal and thankfully everyone enjoyed it :)

Salted margarita glasses

3 Roma Tomatoes
2 Serrano Peppers
1/4 Cup Diced Onion
Cilantro to taste
1 1/2 Cups Water
1 Tsp of tomato bouillon
Salt & Pepper to taste

Get a pan very hot with a little olive oil in it and roast the tomatoes (do not cut or peel them!), serrano peppers and onions. After the tomatoes, peppers and onions are well roasted, cut up the serranos, then put all ingredients together in a blender (works best on a liquify setting). Voila! Yummy salsa! (Warning:  The spiciness of the serrano peppers varies all the time, so if you can't handle hot hot hot, only add a bit at a time; the salsa we made tonight was very spicy!)

Mexican Potatoes

10 Potatoes
Provolone Cheese
Mexican Cheese Mix
Roasted Turkey
Sour Cream

Boil whole, peeled potatoes for about 20 minutes or until soft and fully cooked. Cut them into slices, dip them in butter and lay them in a casserole dish to coat the entire bottom. Salt the potatoes to your taste. Then put sour cream, cheeses and pieces of cut up turkey on top, and repeat creating several layers.  It is best to put the most cheese on the top of the last layer. Heat the oven to about 270 degrees and cook until all the cheese is melted (about 20 mins). Once you take the dish out of the oven, you can salt it more and add some pepper and garnish with bits of cilantro. Trust me: this is delicious!

A while ago I posted a bit about tattoos. I could easily go on a long rant about how I feel about tattoos (I went on a bit of one in this post)... I have two of them, and I do not know if I will get any more. The only way you can see mine is in a swimsuit and I have both of them strategically placed, and while I have considered getting more, I only want them in certain spots so they are only seen when I want to show them. I said I would post pictures and so here they are!

Quote that my Grandma always said to me, she passed away 2 years ago
My mom also says it
Its in the sound of music
And its kind of like my mantra...
Life may be rough but there will always be new opportunities to be happy
Its on my right ribcage
My sparrow
Based off of the parable; the sparrow may be small & insignificant
but God loves it just as much as every other creature...
So know that you are loved, no matter what
I saw this design and fell in love with it
It's on the side/back of my left hip

Vibrant Living

As I looked at my collage of current obsessions,
I realized there was not much color thrown in there.
I have a problem with loving everything that is neutral
and it's no fun wearing an all neutral wardrobe is it?
Lately I have not been letting myself buy anything unless it has color somewhere.
These are a few things I love and have thrown together
to add a bit of color to the mix

Current Obsessions

There are several items that I have been lusting after...
I am obsessed with these ideas and I have been shopping online like a fiend to try to find exactly what I'm looking for within my budget...
let's just say this is a difficult task.
But a girl can dream.
